ITO community: initial research into organisation structure & function
funded by InfraTrain ITO and Road Transport & Logistics ITO
ITOs are a new type of organisation, mandated by both government and
industry to meet specific objectives. This research was undertaken with
a view to comparing and contrasting a range of practices and structures
in place across ITOs. The project focused on providing an overview, and
questions related to history, structure and some areas of strategic
decision-making. STMs as at 31 December 2005 were matrixed with data
from some questions. Organisational charts were compared across 15
ITOs. There was a 75% response to an on-line survey for ITO CEOs, and
in addition 12 CEOs were directly interviewed. Interviews focused on
drawing out additional information from survey questions & answers.
